Tournament Rules

Tournament Info

Tournaments are a major part of ladder life on JiPPiiPooLeRs. We have several dedicated TDs that use their own free time to create tournaments that will add to your enjoyment. For beginners the idea of joining a tournament is slightly daunting, how to join, how to play, will I win. Well all this is explained in this section.

How To Enter...

Jump Code
To enter a tournament you must ask the TD for the Jump Code. This is usually a 7 digit number. Once you have this go to our homepage and type that code into the box underneath "Tournament Jump" (This is near the top). Press enter and a separate window opens up, this is the tournament page.

To Register
Now click on link "Register" and fill in the details. If you are entering a team tournament there will be more options, like create a team, join a team (you need the teams pass) or auto team locate (this will randomly place you in a team). Once you have registered be patient and help the TD to fill the tournament.

Begin Play
Once the tournament is full (this is determined by the TD) then the tournament will begin. If you refresh you tournament page you will extra settings. Click on "Standings" to see who you are to play.  After the game the looser reports BUT NOT to ladder!!! See Reporting for more info.

How To Play...

Single Elimination
This is the basic tournament. It is a plain knockout. Once you loose you are out of the tournament.

Double Elimination
In these tournament formats each player must loose twice before they are out. It means then that if you loose the first game you, you still have a chance to win the whole tournament. It may mean that the final may need to be played twice aswell.

Swiss Tournaments
There are two types of swiss tournaments. The main one is True Swiss. This is when each player must play a set amount of rounds. This is determined by the TD who should also try to get everyone to play each other. The winner of the tournament is the player with the most wins. The other type of swiss tournament plays until there is only one player unbeaten. They are then crowned the winner.

Team Tournaments
These are a variation on the tournaments explained above. They are very popular and it involves you teaming up with one or more players in the ladder. This is a great way to make friends and also build on those streaks you have. When the standings are posted it will show the teams that are to play each other. All you do is play the opposing player in the same column, so Player 1 plays Player 1 from opposing team. Then the team score is reported by the loosing captain.

Others
Many other tournaments are also being created by TDs for more info on these see special tournaments.

General Rules...

Withdrawing
TDs take a lot of there time trying to fill tournaments only for some players / teams to withdraw. If you withdraw all your following games are forfeited and the accused players will be credited with losses from the opposing players. This will be based on TDs reports posted in forums. If you are found to have withdrawn from ladder before reports have gone through punishment will be taken when possible.

3 Minutes
A tournament involves four or more players, so TDs cannot wait around for one player. So if you are due to play a game you have 3mins to begin the game, if not then you forfeit the match. If you have signed up for a tournament and then something happens certain reasons will be permitted, but this is on the discretion of the TD.

Reporting
All games are to be reported to the tournament page. There is a link that allows this. If you report to ladder, you will still need to report to tournament page so in effect you will be credited with two losses. If you are playing in a team tournament please wait until the team score is known, DO NOT report your individual score, it is the team score that is reported.

Seedings
There are several ways of seeding a game, Rating, Rank, Random or Register. The lowest seed will be the one that begins the game i.e breaks.

Screenshots
These are crucial! If there is a dispute a screenshot is needed to resolve this. If no screenshot is provided a replay is suggested unless the TD can solve the dispute by his own methods.

General
All other ladder rules are in place.
